Every now and then, we get a Bachmann On30 0-4-2 Porter with DCC that at least runs, but not well. So, we remove the factory DCC & other assorted electronic junk, and install a Train Control Systems (TCS) Keep Alive KA4, with a Soundtraxx Tsunami 2 Sound, system. Now, it runs so slow, you won't have the patience to wait. Bad track, dead switch points or throws, no longer matter. This locomotive just keeps on running. Don't like our load sensing variable articulated chuff sound or whistle choice? That's okay, since there's a whole library of other choices all on this sound system.
We removed the original cab front header so you can see more of the cab interior details (in between the 2 front windows over the boiler). We added fully painted and weathered engineer and fireman figures seated on boxes, roof top whistle, bell pull cable in the fireman's hand, whistle pull cable in the engineer's left hand, locomotive throttle in the engineer's right hand and real coal in the cab coal bin. The finished model has several coats of acrylic weathering with a final light coat of dust, so it will look good (or would that be bad) for many years to come.
After all that work, we couldn't resist running it around the test track a few times so it probably has ten minutes or less of run time on it before we cleaned the wheels and packed it up. Not only does it look great with Bachmann 18' cars (not included), but it runs so slow without stalling, it took over 15 minutes to go around our test track once. And, it even ran well on our 15" radius inner circle of track.
All the original Bachmann, TCS KA4, and SoundTraxx Tsunami 2 paperwork is included and the original box. You will receive the actual model shown in the photos. Items combined if possible and include professional packing and insurance. Background scenery, track and On30 freight cars are NOT included.
